Macomb County MSU Extension Adulting 101 sessions to build essential life skills
Macomb County Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) will again offer Adulting 101 this summer, with courses on July 12, 19, 26 and August 2. This educational program is designed for high school students and young adults to help demystify the obscure reality of being an “adult.” Each class teaches important life skills and tools necessary to live independently, with sessions called Getting Organized, Home Food Preservation, Informed Renter, and Healthy U.
The summer classes will start virtually at 1 p.m. EST and will last approximately an hour. Individuals will need to register in advance at https://events.anr.msu.edu/adult101summer/. A large majority (92%) of past participants agreed or strongly agreed with the statement: “The Adulting 101 resources provided by MSU Extension are helpful.’’ One participant commented, “When I live on my own I feel like I can apply some of the things I learned with ease now that I have a better understanding.”
Each quarter MSU Extension offers a series of Adulting 101 classes for youth and young adults. Future topics will be Changing the World with just One Vote, Choose your Future, Make a Spending Plan work for You, and Avoiding Money Mishaps. Individuals interested in learning more about Adulting 101 sessions can contact Macomb County MSU Extension Educator, Kathy Jamieson, email@example.com.
